PolliNature is a portmanteau from the words pollinate and nature. It refers to reimagining, recreating and restoring the natural balance of the environment which is the theme of the 2021 World Environment Day on June 5th.

Planting pollinator gardens is one of the best ways to do this as they attract pollinator insects and birds which help with the natural dispersion of pollen and seed. They also present a beautiful entry point into the world of biodiversity conservation.

“According to renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough, if insects were to disappear from the earth, man would follow within a few months, but if humans were to disappear, the planet would flourish!”

The STAR, Monday, 20 Sep 2021

Hence, we are nothing without Nature. Without Water. Without Air. Without Biodiversity. Without Forest.

Biodiversity, a term refers to

"biological diversity", is all the different kinds of life you’ll find in one area—the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural world.

Each of these species and organisms work together in ecosystems, like an intricate web, to maintain balance and support life. Biodiversity supports everything in nature that we need to survive: food, clean water, medicine, and shelter.

Biodiversity ensures food security.

Pollinators (bees, butterflies, beetles, bats, flies, moths, hummingbirds) provide a vital ecosystem service by transferring pollen between plants to facilitate reproduction, making them responsible for 1/3 of the bites of food eaten each day!

Why PolliNature Project?

1. To create awareness about the importance of pollinators for Biodiversity.

2. To create awareness on how pollination is connected to most foods we eat every day.

3. To share the easy and practical way to grow, protect and preserve pollinator populations using a simple start up kit.

4. To encourage citizen participation in Biodiversity CPR activity at Mid Valley River Three Park.
